The album description mentions an “emotional apex.” That’s really the difference between Stare and the band’s previous albums. Ulcerate was always supremely technically proficient. I just didn’t care all that much. Their growth has come from making music you will feel.

One of my favourite tech death projects, despite being only a few tracks. Love the technical rhythms on this track in particular; it progresses so strangely yet naturally, borderline psychedelic. Great band, their album Rise from the Grave is awesome too.

It's like an exact midpoint between Meshuggah and Deathspell Omega. You get that huge, twangy djent guitar tone, but used for good instead of evil, haha. I'm loving that contrast of choppy rhythms underneath and chiming dissonance up top.
